magnum: Equal to two bottles of standard wine or a total of 1.5 liters that is generally more expensive, more difficult to find and impressive by its size when served at restaurants or in the course of a celebration.

marzipan: A sugar and almond paste confection that combines with other sweet ingredients to create a range of candies. Often used in layers for wedding cakes or Christmas desserts.

master’s degree: The recognition of a one, two or three year course of study following the successful completion of a four-year college or university program and often completed as a step to a doctorate.

mortar-board: Square headgear traditionally worn at graduation ceremonies and paired with a matching gown.

non-sectarian: Any activity or event that is void of religious affiliation.

octogenarian: A person who is aged 80-89.
